27/8 my nani Chandraben Shah, lovingly known to us as Chandra-ba passed away. She rests now peacefully in the heavenly abodes. Chandraba, as the literal translation of her name, was the moon that lit our family, she was just as calm and composed. I vivdly remember her smiling face and it is something I will always cherish.

My mom's home in Ahmedabad was never my Mama's home, Mami's home or Nana's home, it was always "Nani's home". I remember spending every single summer in India at her home, she would play with us kids a whole lot, she would keep feeding us, she would make sure I was always doing okay, she would lovingly call me "Harsu bhai..".

I have never seen a soul as selfless as my nani. She probably never lived a single day for herself, for her it was always about making sure that her loved ones are doing okay. My nani, being a superwoman that she is, raised 3 kids so well, even though my nana had a transferrable bank job and would have to move houses very frequently. My nani has nurtured so many lives in just one life that she lived. Compared to the life of privilige that I am given, my Nani had a much more difficult life, but she braved it all with a smile and was always so calm and composed. My nani had a long fight with cancer, for ~500 days she was battling it, getting chemo, radiation, surgeries. However that still never broke her spirit, in all the pain that she was in, she just never cried, she tolerated it all.

My nani would just never rest at home, she would always be on her toes. She would cook in the kitchen, once that is done she would clean, organize, fold clothes or just keep doing something to make the lives of people around her easier. The entire family would request her to rest and not work, but she would never listen. It was like she had an infinite source of energy in her. Her's is a huge house, whenever anyone would lose something, they would rush to Ba and she would somehow magically find the lost stuff quickly. Ba, I hope now you are resting well finally, you did so much for us, we are all ever so grateful.

We all love you and miss you nani, I know you are always looking over us. We are always carrying you in our thoughts, memories and words. I hope I get you as my nani in all my lives. ...
